the way one looks -

Three meanings I have found
to this seemingly simple phrase,

Which is really not so simple
and can be translated in many ways.

The very surface appearance,
just skin deep, doesn't go very far,

It's okay to appear different,
as long as you are proud of who you are.

The main thing is not how well
or what one physically can see,

Some with less sight, have a vision
that guides them with clarity.

The most essential ingredient
in overcoming any strife,

Is maintaining a strong focus
on the positive side of life.

the way one looks -

It's alright if this is different than others
both in appearance and sight.

More important is the way one looks positively,
focusing on what's right

Despite pain and hardships,
when confusion is at its height,

Lets look at what is shining,
and stay focused on the light!
